5 Tips to Keep Your Skin From Becoming Ghastly During Halloween

Halloween is upon us and in my world that literally means that it’s "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!". I adore Halloween and I LOVE every single thing about dressing up for this fun and spooky holiday, especially if I get to turn myself (or a client) into someone else or a special character using makeup. BUT, with all those Halloween themed parties you’ll be attending, this can totally wreak havoc on your skin if you go into your makeup application process without prepping your skin properly first and also not properly caring for your skin post-party. So here are some friendly reminders to think about when beautifying or spookifying yourself this Halloween:

Step 1: Cleanse your face before the application. As they say, "A clean canvas is the best to work from!"

Step 2: Apply a *tiny* bit of a moisturizer (skin type specific) to your entire face and neck. Be sure to massage it into your skin and let it absorb completely before applying anything else. Please, please don't rush this step!

Step 3: If you’re applying a full face (or even half face) of Halloween makeup, consider using a “Barrier Spray” before / during your makeup application.

“A barrier what?” Many moons ago in Hollywood, Barrier Spray was developed as an under base for 3-D Gelatin appliances to increase durability and wearability, so this will work especially great to insulate sensitive skin from any harsh adhesives you may be using (example: spirit gum). You can mist it on top of a finished powder makeup to set and preserve the makeup application OR it can be used under the makeup to stop sweat. Obviously, in the second instance, the shorter amount of time you can use this product the better because it doesn’t really allow your skin to “breathe” properly. BUT sometimes we all need to make those short term sacrifices in the name of beauty / fashion, or in this case your Halloween character! Am I right?!? With this product on your face, your makeup should last ALL night exactly the way you’ve applied it and not go running away…

Step 4: Apply your glamorous / bloody / creepy / spooky / dramatic Halloween character makeup, get dressed, and get ready to go out on the town!

Step 5: When you return home, be sure to brush your teeth (seriously, soooo much candy!) and wash all your hard work off your face before you go to bed.

I have no less than 3 Halloween makeups that I’ll be doing on myself this month! Stay tuned to my IG & FB to see what each of them are! What will you be dressing up as this year?

Have a safe and spooky Halloween everyone!!
